  • “A Fireside Christmas” with The Fireside Social Orchestra is scheduled for two Portland performances: Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, Dec. 1st, 2019 at 3:00pm, both at the Community Music Center, 3350 SE Francis, Portland.  Seven musicians perform 19th century Christmas and other festive music on period instruments and voices.  Instruments include violin, tenor viola, cello, mandolin, flute, ophicleide, reed contrabass, bagpipes, flageolet, walking stick recorder, cornet, alto horn, ballad horn, tenor horn, tuba, and piano.  Directed by Phil and Gayle Neuman, featuring Cal Scott, Laura Kuhlman, Elizabeth O’Connor, Cindy Markham and Ben Fitch.  A must-see event for Trail Band fans.   • The Fireside Social Orchestra will be presenting “A Fireside Christmas” in Nehalem, Oregon: Friday, November 29, 2019 at 7:00pm at the North County Recreation District Performing Arts Center, 36155 9th St. in Nehalem.  Tickets should be available at Ticket Tomato, but if not, please call 855-444-6273.
  • Oregon Renaissance Band “Welcome Home” An Early Celtic New Year’s Concert  Three performances: Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at 3:00pm, Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019 at 3:00pm, all at the Community Music Center, 3350 SE Francis, Portland.  Music from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, St. Kilda, Wales, England and Galicia on period instruments including violin, viols, recorders, crumhorns, sackbutts, racketts, tartold, spinettino, and voices. Twelve of the Northwest’s finest early musicians joined by special guests, Laura Zaerr, harp, and Dan Stueber, percussion.  Tickets ($18 general, $15 students, seniors and EMGO members) are now on sale at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4410215.
